Men’s Soccer Tops Terriers, 3-2

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team hosted Hiram in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday (Oct. 11), defeating the Terriers 3-2.

The Gators did not need much time to get on the board. In the seventh minute, Gruca dribbled through a pair of Hiram defenders into the box. His left footed shot tucked inside the lower post as the Gators took the early lead. The goal was his team leading seventh of the season.

In a similar timeframe as the first half goal, the Gators scored their second goal of the game six minutes into the second half. Gruca worked the ball around the goalie on the far goal line. After getting free, he sent the ball in front of the net. Arthur Every (Cranleigh, United Kingdom/Glebelands Secondary) crashed the net and pushed it in for the score. The goal was Every's second of the year.

The lead grew to 3-0 in the 70th minute. Off a free kick from Ben Keefer (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley), Billy Sprott (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) headed a ball across the box to Renen Frank (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman). Frank then headed the ball into the back of the net to increase the lead. The goal marked Frank's first of the season.

Hiram scored two late goals, but it was not enough as the Gators picked up the win.
