PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- After winning three conference championships in the fall, Allegheny College currently sits atop the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's All-Sports Trophy standings.
The Gators, who earned 42 total points, concluded the fall with a 6.5-point advantage over second-place Grove City College and a 7.5-point lead over third-place Saint Vincent College. Allegheny not only leads the race for the Women's All-Sports Trophy, but set a new conference record for the most points earned by an athletic department during the fall portion of the academic year.Â
Women's tennis, women's cross country, and volleyball captured Allegheny's three conference championships with impressive performances. The women's tennis and volleyball teams posted a combined 18-0 regular-season record against PAC opponents, and both earned the No. 1 seed in their respective conference tournaments. The women's cross country team paced the PAC by placing three runners inside the top 10, resulting in a 19-point victory over the Wolverines from Grove City. For the tennis and cross country programs, their 2024 titles mark their second in three years as PAC members, while volleyball claimed its first conference championship since 1991.
Women's soccer bolstered Allegheny's lead for the All-Sports Trophy with one of its most remarkable seasons in recent memory. Not only did senior forward
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) set a new program single-season record for points (66), but she also ended the year ranked second in Division III in goals (27). Miller's record-setting efforts guided women's soccer to a 12-win campaign, which included its first postseason appearance and playoff victory in a decade.
Miller, the PAC's Offensive Player of the Year, was one of Allegheny's several year-end award winners on the women's side. In volleyball,
Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) was crowned the Offensive Player of the Year, while
Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) repeated as the league's Defensive Player of the Year.
Ben Mourer '07 and
Kelly Barzak earned additional honors as PAC Coach of the Year in their respective sports.
In Allegheny's first year back in the PAC in 2022-23, it stunned the conference by earning its first-ever PAC Women's All-Sports Trophy. The Gators ended a remarkable run by Grove City and Westminster College, who combined to win the women's trophy in each of the previous 15 years and 30 of the last 33 awards dating back to 1988-89.
In the PAC Men's All-Sports Trophy standings, Allegheny sits in fifth place out of 11 institutions with 18 points. Soccer earned the most points on the men's side by placing fourth in the conference. The Gators marched to the semifinal round of the PAC Championship Tournament following a lopsided 5-0 victory over Chatham University in the quarterfinals. Senior talisman
Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), who set a new team record by scoring 18 goals this fall, was recognized as the PAC Offensive Player of the Year.
