Fast Start Pushes Eagles Past Gators

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Allegheny field hockey team was unable to overcome a fast start by Bridgewater as they fell on the road 5-0 Sunday (Sept. 8) in nonconference action.

The Eagles got on the board early in the opening frame, scoring off of a penalty corner. Bridgewater added to their lead a few minutes later as they led 2-0 going into the second quarter.

Jamie Marchewka (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) nearly cut the deficit to one early in the second, but her shot attempt was turned away. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the quarter as the Gators went into the locker room down 2-0.

Bridgwater added three more tallies in the third quarter to increase their advantage to 5-0. Those proved to be the final goals of the game as the Eagles limited the Gators' offense as Allegheny fell in nonconference action.
