CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Allegheny volleyball team dropped a pair of matchups Saturday (Sept. 7), falling on the road to Case Western Reserve and Mount Union in Cleveland.
Match One - Case Western Reserve 3, Allegheny 0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-15)
The Spartans jumped out to an early 9-5 lead in the opening set, but the Gators went on a 4-0 run to tie it up. The teams were evenly matched throughout the majority of the set, but a late rally gave Case Western Reserve the set 25-18.
The momentum carried over to the second set for the Spartans as they captured it 25-12.
Case Western went on a big run early in the final set to gain control. The Gators fought back and closed the gap, but were unable to overcome that initial run as they fell to the Spartans.
Inside the Box
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) led the Gators with eight kills.
- Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) added seven kills.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 11 assists.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) had 11 digs.
Match Two - Mount Union 3, Allegheny 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21)
The teams were even in the opening set until the midway point. Knotted at 15 apiece, the Raiders went on a 7-1 run en route to taking the set 25-18.
In the second set, Mount Union pieced together a couple early runs as they won the set 25-19.
After falling behind early in the third set, the Gators fought back to tie the frame at 15. After trading points back-and-forth, the Raiders ultimately closed the match with a 6-1 run to win in three sets.
Inside the Box
- Javes once again led Allegheny with 14 kills.
- Kirk reached the double-digit mark with 10 kills.
- Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) had nine digs and eight kills.
- Robare has 21 assists.
- Diaz led the team with 26 digs.
- Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) and Robare had nine digs apiece.

- Allegheny is now 22-17 against Case Western Reserve and 9-17 against Mount Union.
