PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team traveled south to La Roche Wednesday (Sept. 11), sweeping the Redhawks in nonconference action.
The Gators won the sets 25-19, 25-11, 25-19.
The teams were evenly matched early on before the Gators went on a small run to take a 13-10 lead. Following a timeout, the Redhawks went on a 3-0 run to tie the set, but the Gators quickly responded with a big 7-1 run to regain control of the set. That run helped fuel the Gators as they closed out the opening set, 25-19.
Allegheny began the second set on an 8-2 run. The lead would grow to as much as 16 as the Gators rolled to a 25-11 second set win.
After opening the final set on a 3-0 run, the Gators would lead wire-to-wire as they wrapped up the nonconference sweep with a set score of 25-19.
Inside the Box
- Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) led the Gators with 16 kills on thirty attacks. She also had four digs.
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) was second on the team with nine kills.
- Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) had six kills, six digs and three aces.
- Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) had a career-high six aces in addition to five digs.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) had a team-high 16 digs while Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy ((Utah)) had 10.
- Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) and Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 18 assists apiece.
- The Gators had a season-high hitting percentage of .337 with 46 kills.

- Allegheny moved to 5-3 on the season.
- The Gators are now 7-0 all-time against La Roche.
