MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team fell to Grove City 2-1 on a goal in the closing minutes at home Saturday (Sept. 28) in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.
The Gator offense was aggressive early on, as

Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) also had a shot on target in the opening ten minutes that was saved.
Allegheny finished the half with an 11-2 advantage in shots, six of which were on goal, but neither team found the back of the net as they entered halftime with no score.
The game remained scoreless until the 73rd minute. Off a free kick, the Wolverines headed a ball that hit off the far post and deflected in.
The lead was short lived, however. In the 79th minute, a foul in the box gave the Gators a penalty kick. Gruca stepped up for the opportunity. His shot to the bottom corner of the goalie's left side found the back of the net, tying the game at one. The goal was Gruca's second of the season.
