PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team opened the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) portion of their 2024 schedule Wednesday (Sept. 25), playing Chatham to a 1-1 draw in Pittsburgh.
The Gators' offense played solid early in the game, outshooting the Cougars before they found the back of the net.
In the 29th minute, Allegheny earned a corner kick.
Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) took the attempt, setting up a low cross in front of the net.
Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) charged in and buried the attempt in the back of the net as the Gators gained a 1-0 lead. The goal was the third of the year for him.
The Cougars tied the game late in the opening half. In the 41st minute, they took advantage of a free kick from just outside to tie the game at one apiece.
Darius Googe (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) had a pair of opportunities early in the second half, but the first was blocked and the second was saved.
Cadan Bennett (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) had two saves in the final 45 minutes as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
