Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Offense Shines as Gators Defeat Alfred State 7-0

ALFRED, N.Y. – The Allegheny women's soccer scored a season-high seven goals as they collected a nonconference road shutout at Alfred State, 7-0, Saturday (Sept. 21).

The Allegheny offense was led by Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy), who registered her second hat trick in seven days. The seven goals also marked the most in a game for the Gators since 2005, when they scored eight.

The Gators did not need much time to get on the board, scoring in the fifth minute. Miller picked up a deflection off an Alfred State player in the box and quickly took a shot that got past the charging goalkeeper for the game's first goal.

Allegheny stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute. This time, Madeline Schneider (Poolsville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) received a pass from Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn). After getting around a defender, Schneider scored from about 18 yards out to increase the lead.

Miller scored her second goal of the contest three minutes later. Schneider set up Miller on a long pass, getting past the Pioneer defenders for her second goal. Just a few minutes after that, Schendier tallied her second assist as she found David on another long pass, leading David through the defenders as the Gators pushed ahead, 4-0.

Once again, the Gators scored an early goal to start the half, finding the back of the net nine minutes in. Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) sent a corner kick to Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional), who headed it in for the Gators' fifth goal. Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars) followed up with a goal in the 64th minute as she headed in a free kick from Karley Johnson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community).

Miller completed her hat trick, and the scoring for the Gators, in the 85th minute. For her third goal of the contest, Miller received a pass just outside the goal box and stepped around a pair of defenders before scoring on a shot from the far side.
