MARIETTA, Ohio – The Allegheny men's soccer team was on the road Saturday (Sept. 21) at Marietta, falling to the Pioneers 2-0 in nonconference action.
The teams each had scoring opportunities early in the game, with shots coming from
Mathis Nolet-Gagne (Quebec City, Quebec/Northwood School),
Cam Kaminski (Bowling Green, Ohio/Maumee Valley Country Day) and
Adam Rumble (Poland, Ohio/Poland) for the Gators, but the game remained scoreless until the midway point of the half. In the 28th minute, the Pioneers scored on a close range shot to take the lead.
The Pioneers added to their lead in the 53rd minute, once again finding the back of the net from short range. That proved to be the final tally of the game.
Ben Keefer (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) and
Micah Khembo (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Catholic) had shots down the stretch but the Gators were unable to break through as they fell 2-0.
