MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The visitors from Westminster College spoiled Blue and Gold Weekend for the Allegheny College football team, as the Titans won Saturday's matchup under the lights at Frank B. Fuhrer Field, 42-7.
Although the turnover bug didn't bite the Gators (1-2) the way it did in their Week 2 game against Saint Vincent College, the offense couldn't find a crack in the Titan's (2-0) armor. Allegheny managed just over 200 yards of total offense and was outgained twofold by the Titans.
The lone exception was a fourth-quarter drive that included two explosive plays and ended with a touchdown. Senior quarterback
Trevor Brncic (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) eluded pressure in the pocket and found
Chris Gisewhite (Corpus Christi, Texas/Flour Bluff) crossing over the middle on the fourth play of the series. The 29-yard catch-and-run was the longest play of the night for the Gators.
Dominic Berarducci (Erie, Pa./McDowell) followed up with his longest rush, as the first-year running back dashed up the middle and broke a few tackles on his way to a 17-yard scamper. Berarducci was rewarded with a one-yard score three plays later.
Allegheny managed to recover a pooch kick on the ensuing kickoff, but the Titans halted all the momentum the Gators had with an interception return for a touchdown on the following drive.
