Second Half Goal Pushes Terriers Past Gators

HIRAM, Ohio – The Allegheny men's soccer team was unable to overcome a second half goal as they fell in nonconference action on the road at Hiram, 1-0, Monday (Sept. 16).

In the opening 45 minutes, neither side was able to put the ball in the back of the net, with each limiting the others' chances. Cliff Weaver (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) had a shot attempt go high in the frame while Nick Magee (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and Jed Smith (Easton, Md./Easton) had shot attempts saved. The Gator defense did not allow a shot on goal in the half.

Cadan Bennett (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) turned away a pair of Terrier shots early in the second half. However, the Terriers got on the scoreboard in the 71st as they scored on a shot from just outside the box.

The Gators had chances down the stretch, including close shots on target by Jacob Kubik-Pauw (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Hanover (N.H.)) and Ben Keefer (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley), but they were unable to find the equalizer as they fell in the close game.
