MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team hosted its first two dual matches of the season on Friday and secured 7-0 victories over Penn State Behrend and the University of Mount Union.

The Gators (2-0) faced little adversity against either the Lions (1-1) or Purple Raiders (0-2) on their home courts at the Robertson Athletic Complex. Allegheny dropped no more than two games in any doubles match and swept every singles match in consecutive sets.

The only doubles duo featured in both contests was the top tandem of Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) and Levente Mihaly (Békéscsaba, Hungary/Békéscsabai SZC Széchenyi István), who were 6-2 winners over Penn State Behrend in the matinee and 6-1 winners over Mount Union in the nightcap. Hedlund also defeated his singles opponents by the same score with a pair of 6-2, 6-1 triumphs.

David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College), Will Jarvie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), and Olivier Erkens (Gouda, Netherlands/Coornhert Gymnasium) finished 2-0 in their singles matches as well, although their position in the lineup varied against each opponent. Of all the Gators utilized in the singles portion of Friday's events, Erkens was the only one to post a shutout victory, as he earned 6-0, 6-0 wins against the Lions in the fifth spot and the Purple Raiders while playing in the sixth position.
