Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Miller, Schneider Score Second-Half Goals vs. St. John Fisher

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Allegheny College women's soccer team netted two second-half goals, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback in a 4-2 non-conference setback against St. John Fisher University on Sunday.

The Cardinals (1-1) scored twice in the 12th and 27th minutes and carried a 2-0 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Gators (0-2) got off to a quick start in the second half, however, and netted their first goal of the young season in the 51st minute. Allegheny cut the Fisher lead in half off a corner kick that ping-ponged around the box before Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) tapped the ball into the cage. First-year midfielder Leah Brockett (Delmont, Pa./Franklin Regional) earned the assist, her first collegiate point, on the play.

Allegheny's best chance at tying the game came from Karley Johnson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) in the 54th minute. However, her shot from the left side of the box sailed high over the crossbar. Less than 10 minutes later, St. John Fisher regained a two-goal lead, and the Cardinals added some insurance three-and-a-half minutes later.

Madeline Schneider (Poolesville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) added a second goal for the Gators in the 77th minute. Schneider intercepted a pass from the Cardinals' defense deep in Allegheny's attacking zone. After a give-and-go passing sequence with Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars), Schneider fired the ball into the lower right corner of the net.
