MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny field hockey team opened their 2024 season at home against Juniata Friday (Aug. 30).
The Gators fell to the Eagles 7-1.
The Eagles scored the first three goals of the game before the Gators got on the board in the final minute of the opening quarter.
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) notched the goal, shooting from near the goal line on a tough angled shot. The goal marked the first of her collegiate career.
Juniata added two goals midway through the second quarter to grow their lead to 5-1 at the half.
In the second half, the Eagles added a tally in each frame as the Gators fell in their season opener 7-1.

- Rowan O'Toole (Glen Bernie, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) started in goal for the Gators, making nine saves.
