MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team defeated the College of Wooster, 7-2, in a non-conference match on a sunny Saturday afternoon at the Robertson Athletic Complex. 

With the win over the Fighting Scots (3-12), the Gators (11-10) snapped a nine-match losing streak and jumped back above the .500 mark with an 11-10 overall record.

Allegheny won two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead. Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla./Professional and Technical) and Rei Etsumi (Honolulu, Hawaii/President William McKinley), playing together for the first time this season, earned an 8-4 win in the second spot. Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) and Omega Ba (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater) also picked up their first win as a tandem in the third position, 8-2.

The only singles loss the Blue and Gold suffered was in the No. 2 match. Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) was a 6-3, 7-6 (1) winner in the top spot over Otilia Oita. Lounder rebounded from a first-set loss and won her third singles match in a super tiebreak, 10-6. 

First years Etsumi and Ba both took down their opponents in straight sets, with Etsumi's win equaling her team-leading 15th singles victory of the year.
