MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's tennis team concluded their 2023-24 season at home against RIT Saturday (April 20), falling 6-3.
The Tigers opened the match with a doubles sweep before the teams split the six singles matches.
Emiliia Grydnieva (Kyiv, Ukraine/Optima) earned a singles victory in the second flight, picking up a 6-2, 6-1 win.
At third singles,
Rei Etsumi (Honolulu, Hawaii/President William McKinley) bounced back from a first set loss to take the second 6-2. In the tiebreaker, Etsumi prevailed with a 10-7 win.
Athena Drollas (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) also had a tiebreaker victory at sixth singles. After recovering with a 6-2 second set win, Drollas controlled the tiebreaker, taking it 10-2.
The Gators finished their season with an 11-11 record.
