Gators Roll to Third Straight PAC Win

BETHANY, W. Va. – The Allegheny women's lacrosse team won their third straight Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game, defeating Bethany 21-4 Wednesday (April 10) on the road.
 
The Gators jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter. Ema Caragein (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton La Salle), Kendall Cox (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and Emily Herrold (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) each scored a pair of goals in the frame. Lauren Petrarca (Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) added a goal and an assist.
 
Allegheny added seven more in the second. Herrold completed her hat trick in those 15 minutes. Amelia Henderson (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) had two goals. Petrarca and Kennedy Kyle (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) had a goal and an assist apiece. Sybi Gerhart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored off a feed from Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.Y./Northern Burlington County Regional). Ashley Amato (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) rounded out the scoring with an unassisted goal. The Bison scored three goals in the quarter as Allegheny led 14-4 after the first half.
 
The second half belonged to the Gators, outscoring Bethany 7-0. Caragein was responsible for four of those tallies. Surdykowski had two goals while Gerhart scored for the second time in the contest as Allegheny won the conference game.
 
Inside the Box
  • Caragein finished with six goals, a career high.
  • Petrarca had two goals and two assists.
  • Amato, Cox, Herrold, and Surdykowski had two goals and an assist each.
  • Surdykowski also caused five turnovers, a single-game career-high, and picked up a game-high five ground balls.
  • Amato added a team-high five draw controls.
  • Gerhart and Henderson had two goals each.
  • Kyle had a goal with a team-leading three assists.
  • Sarah Thorman (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) earned the win in goal, making two saves.
  • Macy Simons (Catonsville, Md./Western Tech) played the second half in net, stopping two shots without allowing a goal.
