Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Records Fall as Men's Lacrosse Routs Bethany, 22-8

BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Allegheny College men's lacrosse team cruised its third consecutive victory with numerous record-setting performances on Wednesday, as the Gators beat Bethany College by a final score of 22-8.

The Gators (6-5, 4-0 PAC) controlled the contest in all phases of the game. Allegheny took 70 total shots and picked up 70 ground balls, both of which are new program single-game records. Eleven different players scored a goal, eight earned multiple points, and four finished with hat tricks.

Individually, JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) and Anthony DeMarco (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) led the way with more all-time records.

Rakis, the reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offensive Player of the Week and a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Team of the Week selection, set two records for the most points (9) and assists (6) in a game.

DeMarco, winner of back-to-back PAC Specialist of the Week awards, solidified himself as a candidate for a third consecutive weekly accolade. A week after setting a team record for faceoff wins with 31 against Thiel College, the junior midfielder won 28-of-32 draws against the Bison (5-8, 0-4 PAC). He also collected 20 ground balls, breaking his own record of 17, which was set in the same game against the Tomcats.
