Men's Lacrosse Extends Wins Streak With Victory at Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College men's lacrosse team continued its historic run with a fifth consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory on Saturday night, as the Gators took down 2023 PAC Tournament finalist Saint Vincent College, 15-12.

The Gators (7-5, 5-0 PAC), who remain tied with Grove City College for first place in the PAC standings, set a new program record with their fifth conference win.

Allegheny led by as many as three goals on a few occasions in the first half, lastly at 9-6 following a Gideon Sullivan (Getzville, N.Y./Cathedral (Ind.)) tally with 2:22 remaining in the second quarter. But the Bearcats (4-8, 2-2 PAC) came back to even the score at 9-all with a man-up goal at 11:42 in the third.

The game was all but decided over the next six-plus minutes. After going more than nine minutes without a goal, the Gators scored four in short order. Nick Gralewski (Meadville, Pa./Meadville) broke the tie at 7:58, and 26 seconds later, Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) made it a two-goal cushion at 11-9. One minute later, Pete Schellbach (New York, N.Y./Salisbury School) found the back of the net, and D'Amato scored his fourth of the game at the 5:00 mark to make it 13-9 in Allegheny's favor.

JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) and Jack Cushwa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) added insurance markers in the fourth quarter, while goalkeeper Garin Stearns (Hudson, Ohio/Revere) and the defense did their part to preserve the lead.
