ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Allegheny College men's tennis team clutched up and secured a pair of 5-4 victories on Monday against Adrian College and Saint John's University (Minn.) to kick off its spring break trip in Orlando, Florida.
Trailing 2-1 after the doubles portion of both matches, the Gators (4-2) rallied to win four singles matches against the Bulldogs (5-6) and Johnnies (1-2).

Anton Hedlund (Hovas, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) and
David Rodriguez (St. Ann's, Trinidad & Tobago/Fatima College) partnered at No. 1 doubles for Allegheny's first point of the afternoon. Both then went on to record identical wins of 6-2 and 6-3 over their opponents in the first two spots in the singles lineup.
Will Jarvie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) battled Luca Coutinho in the third position and came out with a 6-3, 7-5 win.
Guillaume Emiliano Loinard-Gonzalez (Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico/Universidad Jefferson Morelia) won the deciding point at No. 6 singles against Jackson Wilcox, 7-5, 6-4.
The other two singles matches were both decided via tiebreakers.
Benedek Kaibas (Salgótarján, Hungary/Mikszáth Kálmán Gimnázium) fell in a super tie break in the fourth spot.
Evan Nelson (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) pushed his second set to a seven-point tie break but was unable to knock off Adrian's Luke Holowinski in the fifth position.

Like the opener, the Gators entered the singles portion of the contest down by one. And like the opener, Allegheny quickly righted the ship by winning the top three singles matches. Hedlund made light work of his opponent en route to a 6-1, 6-1 decision. Rodriguez and Jarvie were also straight-set winners in the second and third spots in the lineup.
Kaibas found himself in a similar situation against the Johnnies. He rebounded from a 7-5 loss in the opening set and rolled to a 6-1 second-set victory to force another super tiebreak. This time, the second-year transfer came out on top and clinched the match by winning the tiebreak, 10-8.
