MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College men's lacrosse team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play at home against Washington and Jefferson Thursday (March 28), defeating the Presidents 17-7.
The Gators scored four goals in the opening quarter.
Gideon Sullivan (Getzville, N.Y./Cathedral (Ind.)) had two of those tallies.
JP Rakis (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) scored the opening goal while defenseman
Cassady Bouthet (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) also found the back of the net.
Allegheny continued to bring the pressure in the second quarter, outpacing the Presidents 7-2. Sullivan scored three more times in the second.
Nick Gralewski (Meadville, Pa./Meadville),
Griffin Cates (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey),
Pete Schellbach (New York, N.Y./Salisbury School) and Rakis supplied the other four goals as Allegheny led 11-4 at the half.
The third quarter saw four more goals by the Gators. Rakis had two goals in the frame as he completed his hat trick. Sullivan upped his goal total to six while
CT Graniel (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Preparatory) also scored.
Jack Hales (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood) and
Tyler Rippole (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland) scored in the final 15 minutes as the Gators sealed the 10 goal PAC win.
Inside the Box
- Sullivan had a career-high with six goals and an assist. He also had three ground balls.
- Rakis tied a season-high with four goals. He added six ground balls and one assist.
- Schellbach produced a goal and two assists to go alongside three ground balls.
- Gralewski, Hales and Bouthet had a goal and an assist apiece. Additionally, Bouthet caused three turnovers and collected five ground balls.
- Cates, Rippole and Graniel rounded out the scoring while Aidan D'Amato (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) had a pair of assists and seven ground balls.
- Anthony DeMarco (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) went 19-of-27 on faceoffs with eight ground balls.
- Titus Smith (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) had four ground balls, a career-high.
- Garin Stearns (Hudson, Ohio/Revere) earned the win in net, making four saves.
- Issac Michalek (Buffalo, N.Y./East Aurora) and Christian Habusta (Erie, Pa./Fairview) also saw time in net.
