PENNSYLVANIA – The Allegheny women's tennis team continued their spring season on the road against a pair of Division II opponents in California and Seton Hill Saturday (March 16).
The Gators fell to both California and Seton Hill 6-1.
California 6, Allegheny 1
Allegheny picked up a win at doubles to start the match.
Maria Lounder (Pittsbsurgh, Pa./Moon Area) and
Rei Etsumi (Honolulu, Hawaii/President William McKinley) secured the 6-2 win at second doubles. However, the Vulcans won the other two doubles to claim the match point.
Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) collected a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at second singles for the Gators.
Emiliia Grydnieva (Kyiv, Ukraine/Optima) and
Omega Ba (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater) won a set each against their Division II foes, but both fell in close third set tiebreakers.

The Gators picked up a win against the Griffins in singles action. For the second time on the day, Legrand was victorious at second singles, this time winning by a 6-1, 6-2 margin.
Lounder also had a close match at third singles but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-4.
