MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny College women's basketball is back in the postseason and will host a home playoff game for the first time since 2016 on Tuesday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m.
The Gators (13-12, 12-8 PAC) earned the fourth seed in the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament and will face No. 5 Geneva College (12-13, 11-9 PAC) at the James H. Mullen Jr. Arena inside the David V. Wise Center.
Allegheny has qualified for the postseason play in each of its first two seasons in the PAC. Last year, the Gators were the fifth seed and played a quarterfinal matchup at fourth-seeded Chatham University. However, the last time the Blue and Gold had home-court advantage in the playoffs came during the 2015-16 season, when the Gators beat Oberlin College in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament quarterfinal by a score of 58-50.
During the regular season, the Gators and Golden Tornadoes split their two-game series, with each team earning a victory on their home court. Most recently, Allegheny defeated Geneva, 77-69, in the middle of a five-game win streak on January 27. The game was highlighted by an incredible 24-point, 22-rebound double-double by second-year point guard
Jess Bickart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley). Bickart was then named the PAC Player of the Week in recognition of her career performance against the Golden Tornadoes.
Geneva enters the playoffs following a must-win game against Westminster College on February 14. The Golden Tornadoes defeated the Titans, 75-65, which knocked Westminster out of the tournament with a 10-10 conference record.Â
Admission for Tuesday's home quarterfinal inside the Wise Center is free. Fans are encouraged to wear white, and a select number of t-shirts will be given away while supplies last. Other giveaways will be held throughout the night.
