Gators Roll to Win at Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Allegheny women's basketball team won their sixth straight game as they defeated Pitt-Bradford 87-46 on the road Wednesday (Dec. 17). 
 
The two teams went back-and-forth in the opening five minutes of the game as Allegheny led 15-14. In the final minutes of the frame, the Gators put together an 8-0 run to lead 22-14 heading into the second.
 
The Gators' run continued into the second quarter as they scored the first six points. After a basket by Pitt-Bradford, Allegheny put together another big run, this time 10-0, as they owned a 44-24 lead at the half.
 
Emily Lauer (Knox, Pa./Keystone) led the Gators with 15 first half points with five rebounds and three assists. Sofia Genareo (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern Central) was also in double digits with 10 points. Bella Antonacci (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) grabbed 11 rebounds as the Gators held a 41-16 advantage in the category. Allegheny also shot 45.7% (21-of-46) from the floor.
 
Allegheny dominated the third quarter as they outscored the Panthers 23-3. The Gators hit 11-of-22 shots in the quarter while limiting Pitt-Bradford to just one make on 20 attempts. Lauer scored 11 points in the ten minutes while Antonacci and Jasmyn Fisher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) each had four.
 
In the final frame, the Allegheny advantage grew to as much as 47 points as the Gators picked up the nonconference win.
 
Inside the Box
  • Lauer led the Gators with a season-high 30 points. It was her fourth 20-point game of the year. She also had a career-high with 13 rebounds to go with four assists and two steals.
  • Antonacci finished the game with a 12 point, 14 rebound double-double. It marked a season-high in rebounds. She added five assists.
  • Genareo also scored a dozen points with five rebounds and three assists.
  • Fisher ended the game with a season-high nine points.
  • Sarah Santicola (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 12 rebounds to go with six points.
  • Ava Kobus (Pittsburgh, Pa./Norwin) had six points and six rebounds.
  • Jess Bickart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) grabbed nine rebounds with four points.
  • Kate Leach (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) had four points while Analyse Rios (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) and Pascale Olczak (Plum, Pa./Plum) had two apiece. Olczak also had a season-high seven rebounds.
  • Allegheny shot 45.7% from the floor on 92 attempts. They had an 81-31 advantage on rebounds.

  • Allegheny is now 5-1 all-time against Pitt-Bradford.
  • The six-game winning streak is the team's longest since the 2014-15 season.
  • Lauer recorded her fourth career 30-point game.
