STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Allegheny volleyball team swept Franciscan on the road Saturday (Nov. 8) in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play as they finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 conference record.
The Gators won the sets 25-23, 25-21 and 25-14.
Allegheny's 10-0 conference record grants them the top-seed in the 2024 PAC Championship Tournament. It also marks the first time they finished the regular season with a perfect conference mark since the 1994 season when they went 8-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).
The Gators held a 12-9 lead in the opening set before a 5-0 Franciscan run put them in front, 14-12. Following a timeout, the Gators tied it up at 14 as the back-and-forth set continued. The Gators gained a small lead off a 3-0 run late in the set before a kill by
Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) gave them a 25-23 first set win.
Similar to the opening set, the second set saw the teams trading points early on before a 3-0 run gave Allegheny a 13-10 advantage. Soon after, a 4-1 run pushed the Gator lead to 17-13. The Barons fought back late in the set, but it was not enough as Allegheny won it 25-21.
Early in the third set, a 4-0 Gator run gave them the lead, 10-6. The Gators continued to put together small runs before ending the set on a 6-0 run to collect the conference victory.
Inside the Box
- Bawek led the team with 16 kills while also tallying 11 digs and two aces.
- Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) had eight kills.
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had seven kills and three aces while Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) also had seven kills.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 19 assists with three aces while Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) had 17 assists.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the team with 14 digs.

- Allegheny finishes the regular season with a 24-5 record and a perfect 10-0 mark in PAC play.
- This marks the first time since 1994 the Gators went undefeated in conference play.
- The Gators are now 5-1 all-time against the Barons.

With the top-seed in the PAC Championships, the Gators will receive a first round bye before hosting the winner of the #4/#5 quarterfinal. The semifinal contest will take place Thursday (Nov. 14) at 7 pm.
