Gators Sweep Titans, Advance to PAC Championship Game

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The top-seeded Allegheny volleyball team swept fourth-seed Westminster at home Thursday (Nov. 14) in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Semifinals, advancing to the conference championship game.

Allegheny will host second-seed Saint Vincent in the PAC Championship Saturday (Nov. 16) at 6 pm.

The Gators captured the sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-18.

The teams went back-and-forth early on in the first set before Allegheny rattled off a 6-0 run to gain a 14-8 advantage. Later in the set, Allegheny went on a 3-0 run to make it 19-12 before the Titans called their second timeout. The Gators continued to play well down the stretch as they won the opening set 25-20.

The second set opened in a similar fashion as the first set as the Gators used an 8-1 run to jump ahead, 16-10. Westminster fought back late in the set but Allegheny finished strong to take the second set 25-19, moving ahead 2-0 in the match.

The Gators started the third set up 3-0 following a pair of aces by Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek). The Titans answered with a run to tie it at four apiece. The teams continued to trade runs in the set as a 3-0 Gator run brought about a Titan timeout at 15-12. Following the timeout, the Gators' run continued as they pushed ahead 20-13. Leading 24-18, a kill by Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) gave the Gators the win, advancing them to the PAC Championship.
