MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team collected a four set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) road win at Thiel Wednesday night (Nov. 6).
The Gators won the sets 25-17, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-21.
The teams went back-and-forth in the opening set. The Gators eventually pulled ahead, 18-15, leading to a Thiel timeout. Following the timeout, Allegheny scored three straight points before the second Thiel timeout. The Gators allowed just two points the rest of the way as they won the opening set 25-17.
The Tomcats had the early second set lead before the Gators tied it at eight. Allegheny went on a 6-1 run later in the set to push ahead, 16-12. The run continued after a timeout as the Gators won the set 25-15 to take a two set lead.
The Gators went on a 7-1 run to take the lead in the opening portion of the third set. The Tomcats answered with a 6-0 run to tie it at 16 apiece. After Thiel took a 23-19 lead, the Gators won four straight points to tie it. However, the Tomcats won the ensuing two points to take the set, 25-23.
Thiel led early in the fourth set, but a 5-0 run gave the Gators a 12-10 lead. The teams continued to battle and trade points. Knotted at 17 apiece, the Gators went on a 7-2 run with three of the points coming off of aces. Leading 24-21,
Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) capped off the win with a kill.
Inside the Box
- Bawek led the Gators with 20 kills while also registering 14 digs.
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had 11 kills.
- Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) finished with seven kills while Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) had six and Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) had five.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 41 assists, tying a career-high. She also had three aces.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the team with 21 digs.
- Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) contributed 18 digs.
- Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy ((Utah)) had 11 digs with a team-high five aces.

- Allegheny moved to 23-5 on the year and 9-0 in PAC play.
- The Gators are now 29-8 all-time against the Tomcats.
