PAC Release
TRAFFORD, Pa. -- Allegheny College's
Bella Antonacci (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) earned the first weekly award of her career, as the first-year guard was crowned the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week on Monday.
Antonacci helped the Gators open PAC play with back-to-back wins against Thiel College and Chatham University with a pair of impressive performances. For the week, she averaged 18.0 points, 9.5 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game while flirting with a pair of program records.
In a 73-56 win at Thiel, Antonacci logged a game- and season-high 24 points with six rebounds, five assists, and one steal. Six of her eight field goals came from 3-point range, as she finished just one 3-pointer shy of the record for the most in a game by a Gator. Antonacci followed with her first career double-double in a 73-65 victory over Chatham. She scored 12 points with a game-high 14 assists, five rebounds, and one steal. Her 14 dimes were also tied for the second-most in a game in program history.
Through the first six games of her career, Antonacci leads all Gators with 5.7 assists per game, ranks second in rebounds (6.8), and is third in points per game (10.5).
Antonacci and the Gators return to action on Wednesday, December 4, when Allegheny hosts Geneva College inside the David V. Wise Center at 6:00 p.m. The game is also Allegheny's annual Toy Drive. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to help support the Center for Family Services during the holiday season.
