MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team clinched the top seed for the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships Saturday (Nov. 2), sweeping Chatham on Senior Day.
The Gators won the sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-11.
Before the match, the Gators honored their two senior players,
Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School),
Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area).
After the Cougars gained a 4-1 lead in the opening set, the Gators went on a 5-0 run, leading to a Chatham timeout. The run continued through the timeout, reaching 13-1 as the lead grew to 14-5. The momentum from that run carried throughout as they won the opening set 25-14.
The Gators held a small lead early in the second set before a 6-0 run gave them a 14-6 advantage. Similar to the first set, the Gator run set the tone for the rest of the set as they moved ahead 2-0 with a 25-17.
Allegheny started the final set on a 10-3 run before the Cougars called a timeout. Later in the set, the Gators went on another big run, this time 9-1 to jump ahead 23-7. The Cougars fought back at the end, but it was not enough as the Gators captured the victor with a 25-11 set win.
Inside the Box
- Javes led the Gators on Senior Day with 14 kills and a pair of aces.
- Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) also reach double digit kills with 10 in addition to five digs.
- Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) registered six kills and three block assists.
- Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) added four kills while Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) had three.
- Robare had 18 assists on her Senior Day.
- Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) finished with 17 assists and seven digs.
- Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) had a team-high 12 digs.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) registered 11 digs and two aces.

- Allegheny is now 22-5 overall and 8-0 in PAC play.
