Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Offense Shines as Gators Top Presidents, 5-0

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team found the back of the net five times as they defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Washington and Jefferson 5-0 Wednesday (Oct. 9) on the road.

After getting solid opportunities early in the game, the Gators cracked the scoreboard in the 23rd minute. The Presidents tried to clear a corner kick by Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars) but Karley Johnson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) came up and put the ball back towards the goal. Her shot bounced off the bottom part of the crossbar down into the goal for the first tally of the game.

The Gators added to their lead just a few minutes later. In the 25th minute, Emma Tikey (Connellsville, Pa./Connellsville) crossed the ball to Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn), who redirected it forward to Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy). Miller quickly shot the ball from the far post past the goalkeeper, extending the lead to 2-0.

Miller scored her second goal of the contest in the closing minutes of the half. After a defensive stop, Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) took the ball nearly the length of the field, right down the middle. She passed it over to Miller, who took a step around a defender to the top of the box and fired a shot under the crossbar to make it 3-0.

The Gators did not need much time in the second half to find the back of the net again. David passed to Madeline Schneider (Poolsville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) who found Surdykowski. Surdykowski tucked the ball into the low, far post for the fourth goal of the night.

Surdykowski scored her second goal shortly after. After a quick passing sequence from Wilson and Miller to her, she took a couple steps and lifted a shot over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

The Gator defense played well in front of goalkeeper Madison Lemanski (Bear, Del./Delaware Military Academy), who made 12 saves and earned the shutout victory.
