Women's Tennis Wins 11th in a Row on Senior Day

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Allegheny College women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with a 6-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over Washington and Jefferson College on Sunday afternoon.

Before the match, the Gators recognized seniors Madelyn Harrington (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) and Sophia Mita (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights), as well as former teammate Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla./Professional and Technical), who is currently in the first year of her 3+2 program at Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College.

On the court, the Gators (11-1, 7-0 PAC) extended their winning streak to 11 in a row while remaining undefeated against PAC opponents.

Allegheny won the best two-out-of-three doubles point after defeating the Presidents (6-5, 3-4 PAC) in the top two matches. In the No. 1 contest, Julia Müsseler (Munich, Germany/Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium) and Evie Ellenberger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) preserved their perfect record as a duo, improving to 8-0 with a 6-1 victory.

In singles action, the Gators only dropped one match to W&J. Müsseler's battle with Clarie Loomis in the No. 2 position was the closest match won by Allegheny, as the first-year standout from Germany needed a tiebreak to close out the 6-4, 7-6 (1) triumph.

Nicole Serna Cassan (Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico/Grandview Preparatory (Fla.)) added to her singles win streak with her team-leading 11th victory of the season. Like Serna Cassan, Maria Lounder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) preserved her undefeated singles record with her ninth consecutive win.
