MEADVILLE, Pa. – Madeline Schneider (Poolsville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) accounted for all three Gator goals as the Allegheny women's soccer team defeated Geneva 3-2 Saturday (Oct. 5) in President's Athletic Conference (PAC action.
The Gator offense kept the pressure up throughout the early portions of the contest before it paid off in the 25th minute.
Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn) crossed the ball to Schneider. Schneider spun around the defender and finished the shot from the top of the box to put the Gators in front.
Schneider scored her second goal of the game six minutes later. She took a ball that deflected off of a Geneva player and lofted a shot from about 20 yards out past the goalkeeper to increase the lead to 2-0 at the half.
The Golden Tornadoes cut the lead in half early in the second half. In the 57th minute, Geneva was awarded a penalty kick and converted on a shot to the low post of the goalie's left. They then tied the game up in the 62nd minute.
Madison Lemanski (Bear, Del./Delaware Military Academy) turned away the initial shot on a free kick, but the Golden Tornadoes were able to follow up off the rebound for the equalizer.
Schneider completed the hat trick to put the Gators back in front. Off an
Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars) corner kick to the far post, Schneider crashed in and knocked the ball inside the post for the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute.
The Gator defense held tough the rest of the way as they picked up the conference win.
