NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team battled past Westminster on the road Wednesday (Oct. 30) for a four set Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory.
Allegheny won the sets 25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23.
The Gators opened the match on a 5-1 run. Later on, a 7-0 run propelled them to a 15-6 advantage. The Titans fought back to bring the set within a point at 18-17, but the Gators wrapped up the set 25-20.
The Titans gained the early advantage in the second set. The Gators made it close at times but ultimately fell 25-20 as Westminster tied the match at one.
The teams went back-and-forth to start the third set until Allegheny went on a 4-1 run to establish control, 13-9. The lead continued to grow throughout the set, concluding on a 3-0 run to regain the overall lead, 2-1.
Westminster led 6-2 in the fourth set before Allegheny rattled off four straight points to tie the set. After trading points, the Gators pulled ahead, 12-9. However, the Titans utilized a 7-0 run to move ahead, 19-17. The Gators responded with three straight points as the back-and-forth continued. Allegheny earned a match point at 24-22 after an
Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) kill. The Titans fought off one match point before another kill by Bawek clinched the conference victory.

- Bawek led the team with 20 kills while also picking up 11 digs.
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had 17 kills.
- Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) generated four kills while Carlee Pepperman (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte Area) and Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) had three each.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) led the team with 25 assists. Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) added 15.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) had a game-high 28 digs.
- Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) registered 13 digs and Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy ((Utah)) had 10.
