MEADVILLE, Pa. -- For the second year in a row, the Allegheny College baseball team is partnering with the Meadville Medical Center to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
On Sunday, October 6, the Gators will host the second annual Grand Slams for Mammograms fundraiser at Robert M. Garbark '32 Field at the Robertson Athletic Complex. Activities begin at 10:30 a.m., and a cancer survivor lap will be held at 11:30 a.m.
First pitch for Allegheny's fall ball game against Gannon University is scheduled for noon.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted at the gate. Concessions will be available, and several gift baskets and prizes will be raffled off throughout the day. All proceeds from Grand Slams for Mammograms benefit the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute Benevolent Fund. Vendors with information and resources about local cancer screenings and treatment will also be in attendance.
Last year, the Gators raised over $9,000 to support breast cancer awareness.
