WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team traveled to Washington and Jefferson Saturday (Oct. 19), defeating the Presidents in four sets for the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win.
The Gators won the sets 25-16, 15-25, 25-15, 25-15.
Allegheny jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the opening set. That run led them the rest of the way as they captured it 25-16.
In the second set, the Presidents gained the early lead, 14-6. The Gators battled back the rest of the set but could not overcome the fast start as Washington and Jefferson evened the match at one set apiece.
The third set was back-and-forth to start. Midway through, a 4-0 Gator run put them in front, 17-12. Late in the set, the Gators put together another run, this time 5-0, as they won the set 25-15.
Once again, the start of the fourth set was close, but a couple small runs gave the Gators a 19-12 lead. Allegheny went on to finish the set on a 6-1 run, capped off by a
Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) kill.
Inside the Box
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) led the team with 12 kills.
- Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) had 11 kills and 11 digs.
- Beers, Skyler Fatola (Queen Creek, Ariz./Eastmark) and Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) all had five kills.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) tallied 23 assists while Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) had 14 assists, 10 digs and three aces.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) had a team-high 16 digs while Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) added 10.

- The Gators improved to 18-5 on the season and 4-0 in PAC action.
- Allegheny is now 10-7 all-time against Washington and Jefferson.
