BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Allegheny College women's soccer team earned an important Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 road win over Bethany College.
With the win, Allegheny (8-6-1, 4-2-1 PAC) earned three points in the standings and sits fourth in the conference with 13 points. Bethany (6-5-3, 3-3-1 PAC) and Waynesburg University sit just below the Gators in a two-way tie for fifth with 10 points.
Allegheny scored first in the 11th minute and carried a 1-0 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Delaney David (Cleveland, Ohio/Brooklyn) netted the game's first goal following a great string of passes through the midfield.
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) received the ball just outside the penalty area and played it back to
Olivia Wilson (Mars, Pa./Mars), who then fed David into the right side of the box. David's shot from the right side beat Bethany keeper Mathelyn Ruiz to the far post.
The Bison evened the score in the 66th minute, but Miller and
Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional) connected on a corner kick in the 82nd minute. Miller's corner kick sailed to center field, and the 5-foot-8 Surdykowski jumped over the Bethany defense to head in the game-winner.
