Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Second Half Goal Pushes Gators Past Bison

BETHANY, W. Va. – A second half goal proved to be enough for the Allegheny men's soccer team as they collected a 1-0 win on the road at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Bethany Saturday (Oct. 19).

The opening 45 minutes of action went back-and-forth as Allegheny owned a 9-8 advantage in shots. Colin Hill (Volant, Pa./Wilmington) had a pair of shots on goal while Jacob Kubik-Pauw (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Hanover (N.H.)) and Adam Rumble (Poland, Ohio/Poland) also produced ones on target, but were unable to crack the scoreboard. Will Gruca (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) almost produced a goal opportunity in the opening 10 minutes, but his attempt ricocheted off the post.

Cadan Bennett (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) three stops in the frame as the teams went into halftime scoreless.

The Gators continued to pressure the Bison early in the second half with a pair of shots on goal by Gruca and another one by Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon). The pressure then paid off in the 71st minute.

In the 71st minute, a corner kick by Gruca found its way to the far post. Napoleon crashed in on the net with a one touch fast shot that went under the crossbar to put the Gators on the board. The goal marked the ninth of the season for the senior and his fourth in two games.

The Allegheny defense held tough the rest of the way in front of Bennett as the team picked up the conference win in shutout fashion.
