MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team played host to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) leading Franciscan Tuesday (Oct. 22), falling to the Barons 5-1.
In the opening minutes,
Jacob Kubik-Pauw (Guatemala City, Guatemala/Hanover (N.H.)) had a pair of chances with one going wide and the other stopped by the goalkeeper.
Franciscan got on the board in the sixth minute, scoring on a low shot to the far post. The Barons scored their second goal of the half in the 34th minute, once again on a close ranged shot.
The Gators had a couple more chances in the half with shots on goal by
Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) and
Renen Frank (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) but could not find the back of the net as they trailed 2-0 at the half.
Five minutes into the second half, the Barons scored on a low cross in front of the net to far post. They added another goal two minutes later to make it 4-0.
The Gators got on the board in the 61st minute.
Jose Cifuentes (Guatemala City, Guatemala/The Kiski School (Pa.)) headed a ball down the field to
Cliff Weaver (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein). Weaver took a step around the defender and fired a shot from just outside the box to the back of the net. The goal marked the second of the season for Weaver.
In the 84th minute, Franciscan scored the final goal of the game as the Gators fell in PAC action.
