MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny field hockey team played host to North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) foe Denison Saturday (Oct. 19), falling to the Big Red 4-0.
After controlling the pace for most of the opening quarter, the Big Red got on the scoreboard in the final five minutes, deflecting in a shot in front of the net. The Gators almost found the equalizer a few minutes later, but
Bella Cowen's (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day School) shot attempt was saved.
Denison added to their lead early in the second. After
Rowan O'Toole (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) made the initial stop, the Big Red followed up on the rebound to make it 2-0. The Gators had a pair of corners in the quarter but were unable to convert on the opportunities as they trailed 2-0 at halftime.
O'Toole made three stops in the third to keep the score 2-0.
Caroline Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) had a chance off a penalty corner in the final minute, but her shot went just wide of the net.
In the fourth, the Big Red tacked on two more goals as they defeated the Gators 4-0.
