Gators Sweep Terriers in Dig Pink Game

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team hosted Hiram Thursday night (Oct. 17) for their annual Dig Pink Game, sweeping the Terriers in nonconference action.

Allegheny won the sets 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19.

The teams were evenly matched in the early portions of the opening set. Neither side was able to find a distinct advantage until the Gators took a 19-17 lead, which brought about a Hiram timeout. After the timeout, Allegheny continued their run as it reached 6-0 before the Terriers used their final timeout. Once again, the Gators battled back to tie it at 14. After back-and-forth play, the Gators rattled off three straight points to gain their biggest lead of the set, 21-18. The run continued through a timeout, reaching 5-0 before the Gators won the set 25-20.
