Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Goal Pushes Presidents Past Gators

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team was unable to overcome an early goal by Washington & Jefferson as they fell to the Presidents' 1-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Saturday (Sept. 30).

The Presidents got on the scoreboard early. Just over two minutes in, they saw a shot bounce off the crossbar and down into the net for the game's first goal. Several minutes later, Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) nearly found the equalizer, but her shot went just wide of the goal.

Both teams earned opportunities the rest of the half, but the score remained 1-0 in favor of Washington & Jefferson at halftime.

Miller earned another opportunity early in the second half. After getting around a few defenders, her shot was turned away by the goalkeeper. Julieta Schworm (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) had another quality chance for the Gators in the 82nd minute off a cross from Karley Johnson (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Academy), but once again the shot was just wide.

The Gators had some chances late but were unable to capitalize as they fell 1-0.
