MEADVILLE, Pa. – A pair of second half goals pushed Wooster past the Allegheny women's soccer team Sunday (Sept. 3), 2-0, in the Gators' home opener.
The Fighting Scots outshot the Gators 6-1 in the opening half, putting three shots on goal.
Kari May (Erie, Pa./McDowell) got in the front of each attempt as the teams were scoreless at half.
The Gators earned some chances early in the second half, but were able to convert the attempts. Wooster broke up the scoreless game in the 73rd minute as they took advantage of an indirect kick from just outside the box. The initial attempt was blocked but the Fighting Scots picked the ball back up, passed through defenders, and scored on a close-ranged shot.
After
Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) had a pair of shots turned away, the Fighting Scots earned a penalty kick. Wooster took advantage of the opportunity, making it 2-0 and sealing the win.
