MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team hosted Chatham in a nonconference home match Thursday (Sept. 28), falling to the Cougars in four sets.
The Cougars won the sets 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-14.
After some back-and-forth play to start the match, Chatham started to pull away late in the set. The Cougars ended the set on an 8-1 run, 25-20.
The Gators led early in the second set, but the Cougars fought back to take an 8-7 lead. Allegheny responded with a 5-0 run, but the Cougars once again chipped away at the lead, pulling within a point at 15-14. The swings continued as the Cougars tied the set at 18. A pair of kills by
Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) followed by a
Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) ace gave the Gators a three point advantage. The Gators rode that advantage to the end, winning 25-22 to tie the match.
The teams traded runs in the early parts of the third set, but a 3-0 Gator run gave them a 16-13 lead and brought about a Chatham timeout. The Cougars bounced back after the timeout with a 7-0 run to take the lead, 20-16. Trailing 24-20, the Gators staved off a pair of set points before the Cougars won the set, 25-22.
Chatham led early in the fourth set as the Gators called a timeout trailing 10-6. The Gators would bring the set within two points following the timeout, but the Cougars closed out the set with a 25-14 score to seal the match.

- Chambers led the Gators with 12 kills while also tallying five digs.
- Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) ended the match with 11 kills and 11 digs.
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had eight kills and four total blocks while Sydney Kirk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle Catholic) had eight kills and two blocks.
- Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) led the Gators with 21 assists while Gray had 17.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the defense with 20 digs while Alejandra Fernandez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville) totaled 12.
