MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny volleyball team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play at home with a sweep of Thiel Wednesday (Oct. 4).
Allegheny won the sets 25-15, 25-21, 25-12.
The Gators jumped out to a 12-7 lead in the opening set. The lead grew to as much as ten as they tallied six aces and three blocks to take it 25-15.
The early portions of the second set saw back-and-forth action as neither team found a distinct advantage until late. The Gators rattled off a 3-0 run to gain a 21-17 lead, the largest lead of the set at that point. Leading 24-21, a

The momentum from the second set carried over to the third set as the Gators won the first seven points of the set. The lead would grow to as much as 13 as they won the set 25-12 on an
Elizabeth Lubold (Indiana, Pa./Indiana Area) kill, clinching the PAC victory.

- Emma Chambers (Stoutsville, Ohio/Amanda Clearcreek) led the Gators with 13 kills on just 19 attacks.
- Angelee Bawek (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) finished with 12 kills and a team-high five aces.
- Carly Beers (Warren, Pa./Warren) had six kills.
- Izzy Gray (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) and Meagan Robare (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) had 18 assists apiece.
- Duru Akbas (Ankara, Turkey/Layton Christian Academy (Utah)) had three aces.
- Jacy Diaz (Barranquitas, Puerto Rico/Gallatin (Tenn.)) led the team with 19 digs.
- Dagney Javes (Frederick, Colo./Dawson School) had five blocks.
- The Gators tied a season-high with eight total blocks.
