GREENVILLE, Pa. -- For the third time in the last four matches, the Allegheny College women's tennis team swept its opponent, as the Gators took down Thiel College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on Tuesday by a 9-0 score.
Winners of four in a row, the Gators improved to 4-0 against conference opponents and remain first in the PAC standings.
The Gators dropped only one game in doubles, as the No. 1 tandem of
Jean-Arlette Legrand (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Commonwealth Parkville School) and
Sabrina Rodriguez (Kissimmee, Fla./Professional and Technical) and the No. 3 duo of
Lauren Passarelli (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and
Omega Ba (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater) were both 8-0 winners against the Tomcats (1-8, 1-5 PAC).
Allegheny did not surrender a point in the bottom three singles matches, either. Ba was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Morgan Gerber in the sixth spot.
Noelle Kidd (Broadview Heights, Ohio/North Royalton) posted an identical score in fifth singles. This week's PAC Newcomer of the Week,
Rei Etsumi (Honolulu, Hawaii/President William McKinley), earned her team-leading eighth singles victory of the fall by taking down Madi Yurich in a 6-0, 6-0 match at fourth singles.
