NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Allegheny men's soccer team bounced back from a halftime deficit to defeat Westminster 2-1 in a road Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest Saturday (Sept. 23).
After some back-and-forth play to start the game, the Titans got on the scoreboard first with a goal in the 17th minute. The Gators earned several opportunities the rest of the half but were unable to find the back of the net as they trailed 1-0 at halftime.
The Gators' attack finally broke through in the 60th minute. After earning a corner kick,
Jacob Kubik-Pauw (Hanover, N.H./Hanover) set-up
Henry Rosenberg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Allderdice) in front of the net. Rosenberg headed the corner inside the far post to tie it at one. The goal marked Rosenberg's first of the year.
Five minutes later, a Westminster foul on an Allegheny corner kick gave the Gators a penalty shot.
Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) took the attempt for the Gators and put the ball in the back of the net to give them a 2-0 lead. That goal was Napoleon's second of the year.
The Titans had several opportunities after falling behind to tie it up, but Gator goalkeeper
Caleb Kendra (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) made four saves in the final 25 minutes to secure the conference victory.
