LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Allegheny field hockey team traveled to Kentucky to face Transylvania Saturday (Sept. 23), defeating the Pioneers 1-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action.
Ella O'Connor (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) provided the lone goal of the game for the Gators late in the second quarter. The ball got fed from the backline, eventually making its way to O'Connor from
Maya Francisco (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee Valley Country Day School) for the goal.
The Gators' defense clamped down the rest of the game in front of goalie
Meredythe Baird (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) to earn the shutout victory.

- O'Connor scored off an assist by Francisco in the final minutes of the opening half.
- Hana Miller (Willards, Md./Worcester Preparatory School), Emily Robles (Burlington Township, Pa./Burlington Township) and Mallory Furgal (Middleburg, Va./Highland School) also had shots on goal.
- Baird had a pair of saves in the win. The shutout was the second of her career.
- Allegheny owned a 5-4 edge in shots.
- The Gators also owned a 7-1 advantage in penalty corners.
