Carpenter Scores in Loss at Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa. – The Allegheny women's soccer team traveled up the road to Erie Saturday (Sept. 16), falling to Penn State Behrend in a close 2-1 contest.
 
After some back and forth play to start the game, the Lions broke the stalemate with a 22nd minute goal. The Gators would answer late in the half. They earned a penalty kick in the 44th minute. Elle Carpenter (Waco, Texas/Midway) answered the call, converting the penalty attempt to tie the game going into the locker room.
 
The game remained tied until the 65th minute. This time, Penn State Behrend earned the penalty kick and converted to regain the lead.
 
The Gators had some chances late, including a Casey Bender (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus) shot in the 84th minute, but were unable to crack the Lions defense again as they fell 2-1.

  • Penn State Behrend scored goals in the 22nd and 65th minutes.
  • Carpenter scored for the Gators on a penalty kick in the 44th minute.
  • Six different Gators had shots on goal - Bender, Carpenter, Julieta Schworm (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley), Katherine Surdykowski (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington County Regional), Emma Miller (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) and Emily Beck (Martinsburg, W. Va./Martinsburg).
  • Kari May (Erie, Pa./McDowell) made four stops in net.
  • The Lions had a 14-7 shot advantage though both teams put six shots on target.

  • Allegheny is now 12-3-4 all-time against Penn State Behrend.
  • Carpenter's goal was the first of her career.
