BEREA, Ohio – The Allegheny men's soccer team traveled to Baldwin Wallace Thursday (Sept. 14), defeating the Yellow Jackets 2-0.
The Yellow Jackets pressured the Gators early, putting four shots on goal in the first seven minutes. In his first start of the season,
Caleb Kendra (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) stopped two of them while defenders kept the other two out of the net. Kendra would make three more saves in the opening 45 minutes as the game was scoreless at halftime.
It did not take long into the second half for the Gators to crack the scoreboard.
Darius Googe (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford) found the back of the net to put the Gators in front. The goal marked his first of the season.
The Gators doubled up the lead just six minutes later. This time,
Brady Napoleon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) hit pay dirt, tallying his first goal of the year to make it 2-0.
The Allegheny defense continued to stifle the attempts of the Yellow Jackets as Kendra made two saves late in the game, earning the clean sheet in the victory.
