Men’s Soccer Suffers Setback at Stevenson

STEVENSON, Md. – The Allegheny men's soccer team was unable to overcome a 68th minute penalty kick as they fell on the road to Stevenson, 2-1, Sunday (Sept. 10).

After back-and-forth play, Stevenson cracked the scoreboard in the 31st minute. The Gators responded 10 minutes later. Nick Magee (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) slid into a pass in front of the goal by Adam Rumble (Poland, Ohio/Poland), redirecting the ball to the back of the net to tie the game heading into halftime.

Stevenson earned a penalty kick in the 68th minute. Gabe Anthony (Tarentum, Pa./Highlands) made a save on the initial attempt, but an infraction gave the Mustangs a second opportunity, which they converted to take the lead.

The Gators continued to battle the rest of the way, earning multiple corners and shots on goal in the final twenty minutes of play, but were unable to find the back of the net again as they fell 2-1.
